The farmers and herdsmen get the annual income of liquorice per mu from RMB 400 to RMB 450, and the desert will become the fertile farmland being worth RMB 10,000 to 20,000 per mu in 2 or 3 years.

Currently, another round of liquorice for poverty alleviation program will be launched in Taklamakan desert in southern Xinjiang, Tengger desert in Gansu, Ulan Buh desert and Kubuqi desert.

It is estimated that 50,000 people will get out of poverty five years later to realize 12,640 people getting out of poverty.
